NewYorkCoin (NYC) has a very similar story to it's older brother bitcoin in that the original developer of NewYorkCoin github nycoin/nycoin disappeared at launch on March 6th, 2014. This just happens to be the same year that Hal Finney died (recipient of 1st Bitcoin and rumored creator of Bitcoin). The original github account for NewYorkCoin has never been accessed since creation. The nycoin.net website was registered by an early NYC miner and supporter to ensure accurate coin info was published, NYC block explorer running and NewYorkCoin wallets syncing with network nodes. NEW YORK COIN supports the expanded acceptance, use and proliferation of decentralized digital currencies. The original NewYorkCoin account at github remains locked and the code original since developer disappeared at launch on March 6th 2014. The original 'newyorkc' code is completely open-source and viewable to the public at github. NewYorkCoin (NYC) was a fair launch coin with no pre-mine. Block rewards are set to remain at 10,000 NYC for lifetime of coin. Like Dogecoin, NewYorkCoin has exceeded its intended lifetime cap of 100 Billion and switched to "unlimited" cap (129 Billion as of 9/25/17)
***UPDATE: NEW YORK COIN IS CONSIDERING IMPLEMENTING A PERMANENT REDUCTION IN BLOCK REWARD TO 1,000 NYC AND LIFETIME MAX COINS 150 BILLION
